BBC Sound of 2012 Announced

5 Dec

It’s that time of year again when the music industry intensifies its search for ‘the next big thing’, so where better to start than the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2012’ list?

Admittedly some of the names that have made it will wither away like many before them (and why on earth did Skrillex make it but not Knife Party?) But criticisms aside, there’s two in particular that really stand out:

Firstly, there’s Flux Pavilion. As one of the founders of the incredible dubstep label ‘Circus Records‘, he’s been pioneering the genre around the country for years. Nevertheless, there’s still room for him to get bigger. With producers like Pendulum, DJ Fresh and Nero all pushing bass driven electronic music into the charts, I don’t doubt that one day Flux will too.

The other is Michael Kiwanuka. The soulful Londoner has already made some incredible songs – the kind that make you stop, think and relax – and you just know a talent like that won’t go quietly.

So here’s a link to the full ‘Sound of 2012’ list, along with three songs to check out below:

DJ Fresh – Gold Dust (Flux Pavilion Remix)

Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again

And here’s Knife Party – Internet Friends (because it’s basically like Skrillex but good):
